because everyone is fearfully & wonderfully made

"So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them." - Genesis 1:27

We believe that every person is made in God's image, holds great value in His eyes, and is the object of His great love. Therefore, it is our purpose to reach families of children with special needs, extending to them the compassion of Christian fellowship, and providing loving support and a safe environment for nurturing a growing knowledge and faith in Jesus.

Our volunteers are trained to minister through Special Care Events, and through our Sunday morning Heart-to-Heart program and Sonshine Room:

The Special Care Ministry sponsors a quarterly event. While parents enjoy a much needed break--to help strengthen their marriage, meet with friends, or simply run errands--their child with special needs (birth - age 21) along with his or her siblings, will enjoy a devotional time, praise and worship time, activities, and lots of fun. Our special events require preregistration; please click here to register your child. Contact for more information.

Heart-to-Heart is a relational component of our ministry that is meant to include children with special needs in the life of our church family. The SCM team seeks to pair a trained volunteer buddy with a child for the purpose of lovingly and compassionately assisting them during their Sunday School class to help them experience the love of God, embrace the truth of God and enlist in the service of God in their time together. It is our desire that Heart-to-Heart ministry will not only benefit the child with special needs, but will also enable their parents and siblings to attend their own Sunday School class and/or worship service.

Sonshine Room

The Sonshine Room serves as a "break room" or "drop by" space and is available to students on Sunday mornings. Accompanied by an SCM team member or a parent, the Sonshine room provides a safe space for a child who may need a break due to heightened sensitivity to their environment or who may need a space to prepare themselves for their time in worship or their Sunday School class. In this room, they will receive care which allows them to calm and refocus before reentering their regular classroom.
