God-First People Live Hope-Filled Lives!
"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope." Romans 15:13
Jesus, in Matthew 16:3, criticized his audience when he said, "You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky" (predict the weather), "but you cannot interpret the signs of the times" (prophetic truth). In the Bible, God has revealed much about the future (prophecy). Close to one-third of the Bible was prophetic when it was first written. Only God knows the future, and fulfilled prophecy is one of the "proofs" that the Bible is the Word of God (Isaiah 46:9-10).
The Bible has much to say about the end of the age and the return of Jesus. Any serious thought about these subjects raises lots of questions, and there is so much God wants us to know so we’ll be ready for what’s coming. Knowing the future has a profound effect on how we live in the present. For example, knowing what’s coming enables us to order priorities and values properly.
Furthermore, knowing the future fills believers with hope and dispels fears (1 Peter 1:3, 13).
The plan for 2017 is to use the books of 1 & 2 Thessalonians as an outline for teaching prophecy. These two books were written to clarify some confusion about what God has revealed about what’s coming. Issues like the rapture of the church, the sign of Jesus’ return, the timing of events, etc., will be covered, with a desire to build up our hope and enable us to live more God-First lives.
Still growing in Him,
