Children & Youth

Our Children & Youth Ministry at Trinity is grounded in the following convictions:

1. The Word of God is Mighty

Repeatedly in the Bible, from the Old Testament to the New, the Word of God is the principle means through which God advances His kingdom. Our choices of curriculum for Sunday School, as well as the style of teaching we embrace at youth group, reflect the conviction that all of our teaching must be both Bible-centered and Bible-saturated. We do not try to hide the Word of God, but rather unleash it to build life and faith.

2. People Grow Deep in Relationships

Every year we have a Vacation Bible School in the summer, a Harvest Party in the Fall, and assorted youth retreats sprinkled throughout the year. We're not simply trying to fill the calendar! We are convinced that people grow best in their faith when they have others to encourage them, know them, hold them accountable, pray for them, and be honest with them. We feel this can only happen when children and youth spend enough time with peers and adults for them to develop trust.

3. The Church is an Intergeneration Affair and Children & Youth Ministries Should Reflect This

We do not want young people to be isolated and entirely set apart from the greater life of the church. The testimony of the Scriptures is that a church should have assorted generations interacting with one another and we strive to create opportunities for this. We do not want young people to have graduated from High School and leave the church because they never left the Christian Education wing! In order to bring the generations together, we currently do the following:

  • Children in Grades K - 5 join their families for worship at the start of the service and then proceed to their classes.
  • Middle School & High School students have Sunday classes on alternating weeks, so they are involved in the entire worship experience with their families and the church body at least 2x each month.
  • We practice church-wide mission trips rather than youth only trips, inviting anyone in the church to go on mission trips that the youth ministry sponsors.
  • 4. Young People are the Church Today

We believe that regardless of how old someone is, if they are in Christ, they have the Holy Spirit dwelling in them and are capable of making an eternal impact. We want to see young people dripping with anticipation over what the Lord can do in, through, around, and even in spite of them!

    5. Ministry is a Team Sport

The work of the church is meant to be the work of the whole church rather than a select few. We are always looking to develop teams of people to serve in the varied ministries of the church, drawing out their gifts--in order for the body of Christ to be built up to maturity. If you’re a follower of Christ, we need you!

    6. The Gospel is our Ultimate Aim

We yearn to see young people come into a saving relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. This vision guides, directs, and gives breadth to all we do.
